Description: This is a statement by East German Minister of Defense Heinz Hoffmann introducing the military and defense policy of his country at the first session of the Warsaw Pact Committee of Defense Ministers in Moscow in 1969. The minister discusses points from a speech by the supreme commander of the Warsaw Pact United Armed Forces, Ivan Iakubovskii, and comments on the modernization of East Germany's army and the introduction of several new weapon systems.
