This is the summary of a report on the results and consequences of the US-Soviet summit in Reykjavik in 1986. Soviet Minister of Defense Sergei Sokolov introduces the report during the 19th session of the Warsaw Pact's (WP) Committee of Ministers of Defense (CMD) in Warsaw in 1986. In the first part, Sokolov addresses the Reykjavik negotiations and explains the Soviet and US positions. In the second part, he proposes several measures to increase the WP's military security while preserving strategic parity. He concludes that the threat of a sudden Western attack persists.
