Foreign Ministry Report to Soviet General Secretary (Nikita Khrushchev)

Description: This Soviet foreign ministry report written for Nikita Khrushchev outlines the relations between the People’s Republic of China and India and includes a Chinese assessment of the foreign and economic policies of India under Nehru’s leadership, focusing on India’s relation to Communism, China and the Soviet Union. The report looks at the positive state of trade relations between the two countries, mentioning China’s use of India as a mediator in negotiations with capitalist countries, however points out growing competition on the international market, due to the two countries’ similar economic structure and exports. The strategic and economic activities and interests of India and China with regard to Tibet are also discussed, as well as the question of the border between China and India, the McMahon line.
