Memo des Affaires Politiques

28 Dec 1966
Description: This document analyzes the factors leading to the Belgian proposal of studying the future tasks of NATO as well as the resolution itself. Among the triggers for the composition and adoption of the Belgian proposal, the authors identify a larger contemporary tendency towards reform, the need for the organization to adapt, the diminishing threat of war, détente, and the French withdrawal from NATO .
