Speech by the First Secretary of the Hungarian Socialist Workers' Party (János Kádár)

Description: In his speech at the 1974 Political Consultative Committe, János Kádár reiterates his commitment to détente and praises the progress made in East-West relations. He stresses the importance of socialist countries coordinating their efforts in regards to foreign relations, among others to complete the final phase of the European Security Conference. On arms limitations talks, Kádár states that any agreement must be quid pro quo regarding signatories. He also raises concerns about recent events in Chile and welcomes South Vietnam's six-point peace plan.
