Letter from the First Secretary of the CC of the CPSU (Nikita S. Khrushchev) to the CC of the RWP on the Withdrawal of Soviet Troops from Romania

Subject: Withdrawal of Soviet Troops from the Romanian Territory
17 Apr 1958
Description: This letter from the first secretary of the CPSU, Nikita Khrushchev, to the Central Committee of the Romanian Workers' Party concerns the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Romania. The presence of Soviet troops is no longer regarded as necessary in view of the decrease of tensions in international relations. Another reason for the withdrawal of the Soviet troops is the reliability of Romania's own armed forces.
