The Netherlands' Delegation Enclosing Final Version of Report by the Rapporteur of Sub-Group 4 (C.L. Patijn) (F/10748/67)

5 Oct 1967
Description: This final report submitted by the Dutch delegation concludes that the NATO Council should create two special groups for active consultation on security in the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern regions and on relations with China. A further recommendation of Sub-Group 4 is that NATO improve its capacity for long-term policy planning by instructing the Atlantic Policy Advisory Group (APAG) to present the Council with more specific advice regarding policy implications and making arrangements for occasional assistance of independent advisers. Finally, the group proposes that consultation between the NATO members' permanent missions to the UN should be strengthened.
