||
Description:
In his evaluation of the 1985 PCC meeting in Sofia, Bulgarian leader Todor Zhivkov emphasizes the importance of the meeting of the Political Consultative Committee (PCC) in the run-up to the talks between Mikhail Gorbachev and Ronald Reagan, in that it provided Gorbachev with the opportunity to express the unified position of the Warsaw Pact countries on disarmament and other topics in foreign policy. Further, Zhivkov criticizes Romanian leader Nicolae Ceauşescu for creating dissonance at the meeting by continuously adopting a stance diametrically opposed to the position of all other participants.
