Private Meeting of the Special Group on the Future of the Alliance Held on 6 March 1967

Description: This record of the first Special Group meeting provides information on the different views of NATO Secretary General Manlio Brosio and the NATO permanent representatives on the substance and procedure of the study on Future Tasks of the Alliance. While agreeing on the procedure and substance of the study in principle, the participants have diverging opinions on the method of drafting the working program. Attached to the document are the subject proposals of Belgium, the UK, and the US.
