Summary Record of a Meeting of the Secretary General (Manlio Brosio) with Panel Group from the United States Association from the United Nations

15 Nov 1967
Description: This is a summary of conversations between NATO Secretary General Manlio Brosio and the Panel Group of the US Association from the United Nations. One of the questions raised by the panel is how to reform NATO in order to enable it to carry out its functions more effectively. Another topic is the fear that the European interests could be sacrificed as a consequence of the search for a general détente. Brosio argues that even if relations with the Soviet Union should improve, Moscow would not accept a united Europe.
